Gerard Day 1

Wow, what a day! For some reason I decided to not get any sleep before the flight, and I paid for it this afternoon. We arrived at the hotel and had a repeat of last year. After lunch at Ollie's Trolley, we visited Congressman Guthrie's office at the Cannon building. While there, one of Guthrie's staff members gave us a great tour of the capitol building, including a visit to the house chamber gallery. I was really surprised about how small it looked. Maybe it was just the angle, but it seems impossible to fit 550+ people in there for the state of the union address. After our touring of the capitol, we went over to union station, then back to the hotel and grabbed some pizza across the street.
