Today was the first day of the conference itself and I do not know where to begin this blog. I cannot believe everything I have experienced today, and I have quickly realized that this trip is going to be much more than I had previously anticipated. I am a Communication Disorders major and have never been completely "captivated" with politics. Sure, I find them interesting but it's a career I could never see myself in. This conference has however made me appreciate politics and our country even more than I already did. After listening to so many speakers today I now realize how crucial it truly is to have the GOP take control of the reigns once again, making a huge comeback into the political ring. After hearing speakers such as Michelle Bachmann, Mitch McConnell, Newt Gingrich, Wayne LaPierre, Donald Trump and Rand Paul, I feel very confident that we will make a comeback and we will take over again in 2012. I also had the opportunity to be Hunter's "photographer" and assist her in having her book signed by Donald Rumsfeld; this was an amazing opportunity and I got some pretty cool pictures of him. Finally, to end the conference I met and had my picture taken with Victoria Jackson, the comedian from Saturday Night Live who is also conservative; this happened to be the highlight of my day considering I grew up seeing her in famous SNL skits. All in all, today was a fantastic day and I look forward to my second day at CPAC!
