Sorry I am just now writing about the first day of CPAC. I had a great idea. I was going to post my top 10 favorite quotes of the day. I had my notes/quotes ready to go, but when I had my picture taken with Bachmann my CPAC bag got taken by accident along with my notes and quotes. BUMMER! I don't want to paraphrase and you can find the quotes all over the internet. So I am going a different route for this post than previously planned. I've read all the posts discussing yesterday and everyone has done a fantastic job on covering all the high points. One session that has not been written about is the "How Political Correctness is Harming America's Military" panel with Elaine Donnelly and Ilario Pantano. It was inspiring to see their passion for being advocates for the military. The most current and obvious example that basically summarizes the main point of the session was the Fort Hood shooting. Because our government was trying to be 'politically correct', 13 people died. I had never thought about all of the effects from always being 'politically correct'. Their remarks were thought provoking and enlightening. By the end of the session Hunter and I had found our new role model, Elaine Donnelly, and had a new crush, Ilario!
My first day at CPAC was better than I ever imagined. I can't believe this is the first time I have ever attended and wish I would have gone in years past. All of the speakers yesterday were beyond motivating. I got chills multiple times. The one part of the day that upset me was when some of the audience members were being disrespectful to Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney. It was highly rude. Those men deserve nothing but respect for serving our country.
Side note - I got the cutest GOP Elephant pin today. It is my Valentine's Day gift from my awesome parents.
