Well this blog encompasses two days, I was up since 3:30 when we arrived at the hotel (the second time) I crashed. The first day was really awesome. I'm a big museum person so when people mentioned the Smithsonian, I didn't argue. I wish we could have spent longer just looking around DC but food and bed was a much better option after a few hours. A few of us went to a restaurant called Rumors. It was fantastic, expensive, but great food. I went in thinking a burger or sandwich but ended up eating a New york strip and french onion soup... oops. It doesn't take much to talk me into eating steak which is basically what happened. The waiter was very convincing! lol.

We got up and caught the metro (which I'm so glad I don't live in DC cause I'd so get lost on the metro. I'd ride it for hours and never know where I'd be at!) and headed to the Marriott where the convention was being held. We all walked in and on my left was people talking about tea party and on my left was two NRA booth, then I knew this was definitely my place. The first speaker, Michele Bachmann, really got everyone fired up. I love listening to women in politics speak. All the speakers did a great job and I loved listening to every single one of them regardless if I believed something they said or not. That was the only thing that dissapointed me was the disrespect some people had for the speakers. When Rumsfeld and Cheney was speaking people would shout out horrible things to them, and eventually they were escorted out by secret service, but even if you don't believe in exactly what they say, tea partiers or libertarians, we are still affiliated with the same party and generally stand for the same values so I don't get why people have to be like that. On the way back to the hotel, we decided that there was a metro stop closer and we were going to figure out how to get back...bad idea. It took us forever. We went the wrong way then all the way around Dupont circle which is this huge turnabout then went the wrong way up the street. It was cold, windy and ridiculous. We finally made it back to the hotel! The awesome thing was that there was young boy in the lobby with an All Black Rugby shirt on. It made my day! I told him I really liked his shirt and he just looked at me like I was completely stupid. Oh well, It was a cool shirt. :/
