So apparently my new motto should be "a day late and a dollar short".
I haven't been up on my game lately.
So while everyone else's current blogs are of today--
mine is from yesterday.
Sorry for throwing off the flow, T-Daddy.
Anyways, so day two in D.C.
Play-by-play.
We left bright and early on Thursday morning.
Yes--I was last again.
Even Russell beat me.
Then we headed to the subway.
First Conclusion Drawn?
People are crazy.
Like, legitimately crazy.
Second Conclusion?
If there's a nearly empty car, don't get on it,
because that's where the crazy person is.
We got to the CPAC Hotel before it got too crowded,
so registration wasn't too bad.
The schedule of speakers was pretty loaded down.
So let's us take a look at that, huh?
First was a welcome by David Keene.
Mr. Keene helped start CPAC in the '70s when there were only 125 people and Ronald Reagan.
This year--there are 10,000.
Kudos, Mr. Keene.
They started off strong with the Thursday keynote speaker, Marco Rubio.
Marco "My Husband" Rubio.
Literally am in love with this guy.
If you haven't heard about him and his campaign in Florida, GOOGLE IT ASAP!
Without a doubt in my mind--this guy will be making a legitimate run for President in 2016.
And I'll be by his side.
Boo looks good in a suit.
His parents aare Cuban immigrants,
and Rubio was raised without much of anything.
Let's just call him proof of the American Dream, shall we?
Next was Sen. Jim DeMint.
Equally impressive--just on different levels.
He's the only U.S. Senator to recieve a perfect score of 100% in ratings.
DeMint is to my Peepaw as Marco Rubio is to me.
Love. :)
The day also included Dick Armey, Mitt Romney, and Jay Sekulow.
Most exciting times??
Liz Cheney's dad showed up for a suprise visit.
Ask me who Liz Cheney's dad is.
Go ahead.
Oh--just former Vice Preseident of the United States, Dick Cheney--no big.
FALSE!!!
Huge big.
Definite big.
Then--
here we are,
hanging out, waiting on Mitt Romney to come out on stage,
and who pops outta nowhere?
SCOTT BROWN!
Now--
I need to give you a little perspective.
Scott Brown is the top of the line.
The platinum of politicians.
THE conservative warrior!
Fillibuster proof?? HA!
Suck on that, Ted Kennedy!
The rest of the day included some other speakers and committees, but we were back at the hotel and on the way to supper by about 6.
A quick supper, and then a shopping trip to get a fierce new Palin suit.
I'm chalking it up to campaign costs. :)
After that, there's not much to tell--
just the hotel and bed.
But I want to share some of my favorite quotes of the day.
:
"Everything I am or will be, I owe to God, to my parent's sacrifice, and to the United States of America!" -Marco Rubio
"The battle is between the American people and the Liverals--I like those odds." -Jim DeMint
"Hey jackass, get your government off my freedoms." -Tucker Carlson
"You'd be surprised how much good can be done when nobody gets any credit" -Ronald Reagan
"Small town Americans are bitter--that's why we cling to our guns and our God." -David Keene
"CPAC is like our Woodstock. Except we have a natural high because we're right." -David Keene
"Which country would you trade places with? When is the last time your heard a story about a boatload of American refugee's arriving on the shores of another nation?" -Marco Rubio
"If we get this wrong, there may be no turning back for America." -Marco Rubio
"Ronald Reagan is not with us, but his spirit is in this room." -Jim DeMint
ENJOY! :)
