Derek, Day 2
This morning, I grabbed Burger King next door to the hotel, and noticed a remarkable thing. If you order water off of a resturant menu, its costs you $3, but out of a vending machine only $2 but at fast food, you get a real steal on water that is free in almost any other place by getting it for $1.95. On the metro today, we met another less than stable individual, singing Oh Danny Boy, and playing the harmonica while yelling at riders and sharing music history. At the convention, we had an interesting day, starting with registration, and the aquisition of posters, stickers, and propaganda. Then during the speeches, we met florida senate canidate mark rubio, as well as Jim Demint, Dick Army, Mitt Romney, Liz Chenney, as well as suprise visits from both Scott Brown and Dick Chenney. Later in the day, we heard from John Boehner and Wayne LaPierre, as well as Gerard and myself having some very heated discussion with the Catholic group Tradition, Family, Property about women's role in society, and their equality and limitations. This conversation stemmed from a brief discussion of "dont ask dont tell" and quickly broke down into a very radical right defense of archaic principles that made even me feel liberal. Afterwords we ate dinner in union station, and did some more shopping before crashing
