Day 3
Theme of the Day: What is Liberty?
Mitt Romney- Looks, acts, feels like a President. Based on Appearance he may be the 45th POTUS. Had a great speech about not apologizing for America. Defense must be strong and we have to be able to chase the American dream. If and when he decides to run, I’ll back him. He is Mormon but Kennedy was Catholic. Will it play well in the South? Guess we’ll see.
Tim Pawlenty- Really enjoyed his talk about limiting government and how he had real life experience scaling back the state of Minnesota. He’s a possible Presidential hopeful, not a bad choice either. Would make a great VP for Romney too.
Ron Paul- I went into this with the wrong mind, this mostly due to his supporters. The Tea Party Contingent isn’t Republican. They are conservative nearing anarchy though. I respect a lot of their points but don’t agree with all. I think Ron just like his son Rand is necessary to achieve a smaller government. They ask for 100 things and if they get half the system will work again. You need people who are polarized it makes it interesting.
Rick Perry- George W. Bush 2.0 Mannerisms, voice, message.
Herman Cain- Samuel L. Jackson’s voice trapped in a conservative African-Americans body. Had a great speech and very different perspective than everyone else.
Jimmy McMillan, former candidate for Governor in NY was at the conference I got a picture of him. He is from “The Rent is Too Damn High” party. And has been depicted on SNL by Keenan Thompson, great satire.
