D.C. the third time around

We started the morning way too early, but arrived to D.C. safe and sound.

We grabbed lunch at Ben's Chili Bowl, which was decent, then went our separate ways to explore the city. I went with a large group to the Smithsonian and the Holocaust museum- both of which I have been to before on previous CPAC trips. However, there's always something new to learn or appreciate at both. For example, this time I enjoyed looking at Nixon items, such as the portrait of his wife or the jade flask he received from a diplomatic trip to China. Last CPAC I met Monica Crowley at the Clare Booth Luce Luncheon and subsequently read her book, Nixon in the Winter. Her book revealed intimate details about Nixon's life that made me empathetic to his life story. Seeing tangible items related to his life made me feel even closer to the former president and brought my education to life.

The night ended with an interesting dinner at Casi with Hunter, Dylan, and Dr. Turner. I'm looking forward to the first day of the conference tomorrow! Hopefully, I'll run into Monica Crowley again.
