Fiscal conservativism, repealing Obamacare, and protecting liberty were the main themes of CPAC for Day 1, which I could've told you yesterday would be the themes for all weekend. What I didn't expect? A surprise appearance by the Donald and former Vice President Dick Cheney. It's a good thing the ballroom wasn't as windy as the Superbowl, otherwise Mr. Trump may have almost lost his famous 'do' again. While basically launching has campaign for president in 2012, the Donald basically shut down Ron Paul and his supporters by saying, "Really? He can't get elected." Amidst the boos and caws, the Donald still managed to pull off a highly entertaining and intriguing speech. However, the negative tone being set from part of the audience had only just begun. Dick Cheney helped award Donald Rumsfeld an award, but couldn't get half way into his first sentence before the war criminal accusations began in the crowd. I was shocked how many people actually find it appropriate to harass a former Vice President and a fellow Conservative. That showed one of the major flaws of the conservative movement, how divided some of the groups are. The secret service quickly handled every "war criminal" and "Where's Bin Laden?" shouting by ushering the guests out quietly, but not before I had enough time to plan my escape if someone were to pull out a fire arm (it was that crazy). After all the outrageous scenes, I'd say my first day at CPAC was very eventful, and therefore successful. I can't wait to see what antics tomorrow has in store.
