Merina: Washington Day Three. CPAC Day Two

Since I'm not very familiar about politics I'm unclear on this Tea Party that has been mentioned throughout this conference. I understand that people want to make their own decisions when spending money but what really is the right way to spend. I don't really think that a single opinion is going to be the end all be all. One thing that I think that is correct is that more people are into politics than ever before this last and present term. This is very true. I do think that conservatives make good points on spending but really who's opinion is the right one.
Every person who has spoken has talked about has spoken of cutting funding, but what are you really asking to cut? "Everything" was the word used. Does everything include the money they get for speaking or the funding for school extracurricular activities? Building up low income cites? I wonder if any of these changes would be made if any of this audience was in office, or is it simply something they feel they can complain about?
I absolutely agree that the government shouldn't waste money but I don't think I'm hearing answers that will solve the problem as a whole. I wonder what the actual solution really is? Ending Spending sounds very good but how will we accomplish that really. We are a country, not just a panel of politicians. I believe we need to figure out, and come together as a whole to come up with a plausible solution to the debt crisis we face.
Ryan Hecker made great points that I totally agree with about Obama during commenting questions where he stated that he wanted to commend him for his efforts. The real reason we want to cut spending and provide better health care should be to help Americans. To help build this country up we need a sense of unity: "Divided we fall" I think that we as a country are divided. We are more worried about who's right, and choosing either Republican or Democrat and not looking toward the real goal "The People".
I haven't heard one word about helping the homeless, single and widowed mothers and fathers. All I'm hearing is hateful words and finger pointing. When are we going to work together? Again good points have been made refuting Obama's work in office but in my experience I'm hearing more hate and finger pointing than any solutions. I think change is the most feared component of this whole ordeal. There's talk of unemployment and job fairs by Mitt Romney but who blames Obama as if unemployment never existed before he came into office. So I pose the question: What is your solution to that problem Romney?
So many unanswered questions. I just have to remember this is a learning experience, I come here with an intent to be neutral and unbiased, and learn all I can. My knowledge has expanded to form opinions that I didn't hold before this conference. What a country. What a world, such as this that we live. The best quote I can pull from the conference today that ties into this message is we can disagree but we can disagree agreeably. That single quote sums up all the words that I've written here. We can disagree with each other but but civilly not by coming to inconceivable blows.
Also I got to go and visit the monuments tonight with my roomy and Dr. Turner. It was awesome! Except for the part at the end where we were stranded for like 30 minutes in the freezing cold (Burr). I got some great shots though.

  1. I think it is good that you do not have a concrete ideology, and that you are treating your CPAC experience as a learning one.

Remember, that it is important to understand why you dislike a certain political ideology. Also, investigate what you do like.
