Michele Bachmann: Live Free, or Die!

Michele Bachmann gave an inspiring opening speech that set off the conference with a good tone. It's not hard to see why she was the first woman representative elected to the House by Minnesota.

In her speech she discussed the importance of conservative fiscal and moral values in today's legislation and offered solutions to move America's government forward. She emphasized the fact that it has taken democrats four years to add 6 trillion to the national debt, in contrast to the 8 trillion that had accumulated since our government's founding. She was witty in her comment, "Hu's your daddy!" in reference to China's current president, Hu Jintao.

As part of her solutions, she called on President Obama to stop cap and trade and to support a balanced budget amendment. Her speech included real figures and statistics that would affect my generation very soon and into the future. She was definitely a good choice for the opening speaker- there's nothing I love more than a strong, conservative female leader.
