I was really excited to see Congressman Black's (TN-06) office because I interned on her campaign this past summer. It was rewarding to know our hard work paid off. I enjoyed my lunch in the Longworth cafeteria with friends from the campaign who now work for Congressman Black.
While Rachel was visiting Congressman Black's office, Lindsey and I visited with Congressman Chandler, Ky. sixth district. Even though we weren't ideologically aligned, it was an enlightening conversation because no one had an agenda in mind. Congressman Chandler gave us advice about breaking into the political field. He also said the most rewarding aspect of his job is the variety of knowledge you gain on the job everyday. This meeting was the best part of the day, in my opinion, because of the interesting views both parties shared on politics today.

While walking around the National Mall, we ran in to a man dressed as a Revolutionary War soldier. We of course asked to have our picture taken with him....

We then made our way to the White House. All we can say is that we're ready for 2012.

And he had a tea pot. Also, we call him Good Sir!

This was just a picture we really liked...Day 1 was a success!
