CPAC: Middle East Ignorance, promising canidates, and then there Ron Paul

The most distressing thing thats come up in the topically based discussions throughout CPAC has been the blatantly unacademic, and illogical approach to the middle east. During the Afghanistan panel discussion, there were academics, as well as the Nixon Center panel on defense, but every panel regarding Islam, Mosques, Israel or Egypt was filled with Biblical prophecies and defended with shouts of "God wills it". This dangerously unacademic attitude is a huge blow to American credibility and efficiency abroad.
Alan West and Anne Coulter kept the crowds both inspired and entertained, making stirring speaches and taking humorous potshots at current and former elected officials. This blend of lighthearted attitudes and serious dedication made the conference very enjoyable to attend.
The straw poll results were once again skewed by the inaccurrate demographic depiction displayed at CPAC. Ron Paul supporters are still by far the most disrespectful crew in attendence at the conference, hanging at the bar until the straw poll, or milling about making disrespectful comments and booing speakers. Only showing up in mass simultaneously, whenever Mr. Pauls interests are at stake, or the media presence is high. Their most disrespectful display by far came when they departed after their straw poll victory, not waiting to see the Keynote speaker colonel Alan West. Luckily this made room for the other delegates to fill the thousand newly vacated seats, and the conference ended with a full house.
